3 Creeks - 2019
12 teams competed for the trophy in 2019.
The sun was shining and weather conditions were generally favourable with a decent breeze for those competitors who were first off from the Dart. Others struggled with a light breeze and had to row their yachts against the tide to reach Salcombe to drop their runners. One boat sadly had to retire due to engine trouble (Falbala) but was rescued by a generous fellow Yealm Yacht Club boat, Nightstar.
Sunday saw Class 1 boats tussling for first place racing around the Eddystone Lighthouse before dropping runners at Cellar Bay in Noss Mayo, while Class 2 yachts saw fleets split tactically between hugging the coastline and heading into deep water before rounding the Draystone buoy off Plymouth and heading back to the Yealm to despatch their runners spinnakers aloft, for the final coastal leg to Beacon Hill and back to Yealm Yacht Club for the finish.
The overall winning team – The HissyFitters were racing on a Dazcat 1495 from Plymouth. The team included: Simon Baker (skipper), Dan Fellows, Dave Barden, Nigel Jenkins and Will Kumar.
Class 2 winners, Team Pegasus were racing on a Beneteau 36.7 whose home port is Dartmouth. The team included: Simon Jenkins (skipper), Alex Copping and Catherine Jenkins.
The Boys of Sailor Town, racing on Insanity, a 28ft Hunter Impala, were a close second in class 2, behind the winning team by just one minute while the fastest running team was Team Jaldi.
